Formats

Bloody just because there are so many columns in Excel sheet, formats are prepared in so many columns. There are so many fools in the corporate world who make simple things complex.. we need people who at least make simple things simple..

Stress

Stress in work is not a factor of work, it's a factor of what you dislike. The more you do things that you dislike, the more you are stressed.

Break the task into things that you find easy and that you dislike. Understand your limitations,  delegate or take the help of others for things that you dislike and do more of things that you like. Take things that you dislike in small doses and learn from that. Take a break and do things that you love the most and bring a balance.

Misfits

The world is full of misfits, we don't do what we love, what we are good at, we do what we get, we don't take decisions, we maintain status quo, we don't create choices rather we Crib that we don't have choices..

And we become absolute misfits in what we do. More than 80% in this world are misfits, they don't love what they do, they don't create what they love and they can't create things that the world loves. The damage is not just internal but to the entire world.

Lack of resources, opportunities, will power and intense competition ll increase the misfits in the coming years but find time to do what you love, take a break to create what you love, As Susan Cain puts it, "the world needs you and the things that you create"

Walkers

Have you noticed the walkers, 50% of them are over weight. If walking need to make them fit, who are they. And you see the persons who play any kind of sports they are all fit. Check and do what you love, it helps you to have a regular schedule..

Discovery or Invention

We invented the wheel or discovered that a circular object helps to rotate and move things. Edison invented bulb or discovered that when we pass electricity through tungsten in the presence of an inert gas emits light. Laws of physics is same wherever we are, across the entire cosmos, and our discovery is very much limited to our needs.

Invention is finding something which doesn't conform to the Laws of physics and there are so many. Language is an invention, it has rules but quite different in different places and languages. Religion is an invention, all fictional stories are inventions, but electricity or nuclear energy, engines, rockets are all Discoveries. The entire number system is an invention, if we had 13 fingers, we would have a completely different number system, on base of 13 rather than 10.

As Penn Jillette said about religion,  you wipe out and restart this entire world, all the discovery will remain the same. All the inventions ll be completely different.

Management theories

Management theories are designed to maximize the shareholder value and this is going too far. Even the best of the leaders including HR professionals working for maximizing the shareholder value and the employee welfare takes a back stage. The best organization & the CEO' s are the ones who get the best of the team and team members do the best they can, ignoring their personal well being. Time that the we take cognisance of that and create the necessary balance.

Top 10%

What do you do to retain your top 10% of your employees. They set the benchmarks which drives the rest of the 90% of the employees. Here is an organization which says that their attrition is low and they don't pay well. There is no difference between top and average performer, people stay here for years and loyalty is termed as the number of years you stay in that organization. It continued to lose most of the top 10% and the balance became average performers because there is no reason for them to perform. Result is that the benchmarks are far lower than the competition and the entire organization got into a spiral of bad performances resulting in lower pay and further exodus of best performers.

First find a way out to identify the top 10%, some of them are hard workers, consistent performers, some of them are rebels, disruptors. Then find a way to retain them and finally find a way to get the best out of them.

And the top 10% also holds good for the customers and  your entire supply chain. What are we doing about it..

Loyalty

What is that, is that saying "yes" to your superiors or  perfect alignment with the organization or working hard as you can..

My definition of loyalty is doing "what is right for the organization" even if it means say "no" to your CEO and not getting aligned with the organization..

Memory of the cell

Thanks to Sadguru..

Every cell has a memory called heriditary memory that  is inherited  from your forefathers and that is much more than your brain memory. And that forces you to be like your father or ancestors. Break your natural tendencies, else you ll become like your father or grandfather..

Corporate Rebels

They are not in alignment with the organization, they know the exact misalignment of the organization from the right path. They are dead on the day they are forced to align because they know they are not doing what is right.

The organization always wins the race, Rebels don't budge, they move out in most of the cases and the organization never gets aligned.

It's very easy to identify these rebels, they are the immediate supervisor's nightmare, the one who don't fit the hole, the one who is unsettled. The organization need to just get aligned with these rebels, that encourages more rebellion and more so the organization gets aligned to the right path..

Logic

Inspiration from sadguru..

We live & die with our own limited logic and that holds good for everyone. And we should know, that our logic is limited and try ways & means of expanding that logic! that's your bandwidth, that's your playing arena and that's your world. You can confine yourself to to your heriditary memory & thoughts or expand yourself to the entire cosmos. So always keep your eyes & ears open, listen & learn, let it be from any source..

Suicidal Mission

The first flyby reached Mars on 1965 and sent photos back to earth. The first Rover, Path finder reached Mars on 1997. It's a gap of 53 yrs that we sent the first satellite and 21 yrs that we landed a Rover in mars and still it may take another 5 to 10 yrs for us to send humans to Mars on a safe mission. What if we have sent  humans 15 yrs back to Mars, it would have been a suicidal mission, few Astronauts would have dedicated their lives but there would have been a massive advancement in the planetary mission. Looking at the cosmos something resets life after every few million years and we don't know when ours is going to be due and it's important we take this suicidal mission for the survival of the most intelligent species, Humans..

Self Realisation

Self Realisation, Know thyself is the most important. You don't need to be great person but knowing thyself helps in improving or complementing our skills else we are heading for a disaster.

Simple

We have so many fools around us who complicate simple things. we need more average persons who make simple things as simple and at least few intelligent persons who make complex things simple..

Lionel Messi

Don't write about him, Don't try to describe him. Just watch him.
- Pep Guardiolo, Ex Barcelona coach.

There are lot of lessons that i have learned from him. Watching him play is an inspiration, and the speed, the accuracy, the calmness, the spirit, the intellect like no one else.

Practice makes a man perfect, the ball sticks to his legs, goes between the legs of best of the defenders / goal keepers.

Gallop in short intervals, helps you to cover distance, And know when to break free and when to Gallop.

Dont have over confidence, Goes as much close to the goal post as possible, before releasing the ball.

Expect the hurdles and be prepared. And it's very important to get back on feet quickly.

You dont need to do everything, just make things easy for your team, they ll do the rest.

And when it's tough, get things done for the team, they will come back to you with respect.

Be humble and grounded, you are not bigger than Messi.

Work for the team, not for yourself..

Procrastination

I was trying to find out ways to avoid procrastination and found a 2 minute rule in an article. It says anything which you can do in 2 minutes, do it without any procrastination. In contrary I found that I do anything stupid which I really love to, if it takes just 2 minutes even between the most important tasks. And those two minute breaks are the ones which has given us the dreams, the imagination, the creativity and the inspiration. And that has given us the learning from cosmos to quarks, Einstein to Vincent van Gogh, Politics to Sprituality. And my dear procrastinators, love and enjoy those two minute breaks because that's what makes us who we are..

But aware that there are things that we are procrastinating for a long time now, just ensure we nail it..

Running out of time

About 66 million years ago, a 9 km wide asteroid killed 75% species on Earth. Today a similar event can happen anytime and we don't have any options to defend ourselves. We have sent probes to different planets in our solar system but not found any hospitable places to live or move. The nearest star Alpha centauri system is 4.3 light years away and will take 70000 years to reach this star at the current maximum travel speed of 17 metres per second. When we look at cosmos, it's so big that life could be there everywhere but looks like there is no advanced civilization in our vicinity may be in our entire Galaxy. Something resets life may be every few million years and ours may be due anytime, surely we are running out of time..

Execution

Every species has an innate desire to prove its worth, leave alone humans. Just get the organization objectives and goals aligned with that person, the execution is done.

Alignment happens when one

- Gets the respect which he desires
- Feels that's worth the effort
- Gets his due share of credit

Don't React

We need to stop reacting to every damn thing. Typically in an organization we try to react for every mail or every action whereas the best thing is to wait or ignore most of the time. Assuming we get a nasty mail from a person and you just ignore that mail, that would be the best befitting reply..

Success

It doesn't come in one stroke, it comes in bits & pieces and ll take long time to realise how big the success is..

Cherish every piece of success, however small it is, that's the fuel to withstand all frustration, anxiety, distress and to move forward.. And then look forward for a bigger piece of success, that's what makes this life more interesting..

Keep rocking..

Know your priorities

The wonderful piece of advice that I got from my senior, "know your priorities"..

Once you have desired level of competencies, all that matters is to know your priorities and executing that based on the importance..

Do you go to your kids sports day or make arrangements for a chairman meeting. Do you focus completely on your month-end day sales follow up or take a break to go to your kids parents teachers meeting. How do you prioritize your day to day work and how do you decide what is important. How do you evade the silly urgent matters to the most important ones.

As we grow up, the tasks are plenty, time is limited and all that matters is to know your priorities..

Best Inventions

No doubt it's the written language..

http://ramkg.blogspot.in/2015/10/the-biggest-invention.html?m=1

Next is the formal education, 15 to 20 years of formal education took humans to a different level of knowledge & processing capabilities. It's there for thousands of years but earlier learning was limited to their own demography. Transportation took this learning across the globe in the last century but it's still slow.

Next is the internet which helped us to take the collective learning faster and to much wider audience at real time. Internet was found way back in 1970's but the progress was slow until the telecommunication network improvement helped in fully utilising the capability of internet. Today Elon musk's tweet ll inspire millions of people across the world in real time, same is the case with all the discovery, inventions and the various scientific progresses. Billions of people working together as a single entity is going to take the learning of humans to a different level. This century is going to see impossible developments and will see the Pinnacle of human achievement..

What next?

Value creation

Seen lot of people who work hard, travel a lot but add no real value. Whatever we do, check what's the value addition or creation, if not better do nothing. In organization we see lot of characters who add no value, no worries, move on, time ll take care of them..

Just do what you are passionate about..

Vsauce Michael Stevens, just do what you are so passionate about, not what people want.. Do marketers have a message here!!

How do you spread curiosity about science?

Part of it is just being passionate about your topics. If I don’t care about a topic, I’m not going to make a video about it, because somebody else probably cares more about it, and they should. Instead I only cover what I am so excited about that, whether I make an episode or not, if you run into me on the street, I’m going to want to talk about it. That is really authentic. It’s what people demand now that they have so many choices, and that’s what makes it so contagious, that you see how real my passion is for it.

Intuition

Never understood the clear meaning until Mr. Jaggi Vadudev explanation, Intuition is "higher levels of computing".

Wow, we derogate this intuition as just hunch, guess!.. If this is higher levels of computing, by the most powerful computer on Earth, then this is what we should teach children, teach in schools, colleges, organizations.

Legendary mathematician Ramanujam found the answer for partitions even before he proved it with theorem. There are so many intuitive scientists discoveries that are not taken seriously for want of proofs. Market research is mostly preferred than the advice of an intuitive marketing professional. Time that we value, teach and appreciate Intuition..

Boss

Boss should never

Take all credit for his team's work
Disparage or malign his team members
Play politics with his team
